The Blues have won the race for the Atletico Madrid forward, ahead of Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal, and will pay a £10million loan fee for the Portuguese star.

However, there is no option to make the 23-year-old’s Stamford Bridge switch permanent, while the Blues have agreed to pay a further £8m to cover the player’s wages.

The Portuguese forward has hardly featured for Atleti since returning from the World Cup, due to an apparent clash with manager Diego Simeone, playing just 139 minutes of a possible 360 since the break.

Whilst away with his country it was acknowledged by Atlei’s CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin that the club were looking for options for the wantaway striker who instantly gained links to the Premier League.

United and Arsenal both reportedly made approaches for the former Benfica star, but it’s Chelsea who have won the race.

It is also claimed by Spanish outlet Marca that Atleti will wait until the summer before deciding on a permanent transfer for their record signing.

Felix joined the Spanish giants in 2019 for a whopping £113m despite just half a season of professional football with Benfica, and since struggled to find his place under Simeone.

There have been a number of flashpoints between the player and manager, resulting in his eventual departure.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements with the 12th worst goal record in the Premier League.

Graham Potter’s side allowed record signing Romelu Lukaku to rejoin Inter Milan on loan during the summer, and sold strike partner Timo Werner back to Leipzig.

Raheem Sterling was secured for £50m from Manchester City, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signed for Barcelona, but so far the two have nine goals between them in a combined 37 games.
