The Avengers Become Retro Pulp Heroes In Marvel Fan Poster Series

Before a new Avengers team rises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a fan creates a series of pulp-style posters for the original Avengers’ solo films.

The Avengers become retro pulp heroes in a series of Marvel Cinematic Universe fan posters. The original Avengers team members include Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. The heroes started their MCU journeys in different ways, with Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow debuting in supporting roles in other heroes’ movies, while the other four original Avengers got their MCU start through solo films. Those four MCU movies appear in pulp-style posters created by a Marvel fan.

On Reddit, u/digimeng shared their series of MCU fan posters in the style of 1950s movie posters, starting with the first solo movies for Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk.

The art style is incredible, bringing the MCU to a very different time period than the one fans are used to seeing the characters in. Given the long history of Marvel Comics, a series of 1950s movie posters for the MCU is an inspired choice, and the start of the project with the Avengers shows how well it works.

When Will The Avengers Appear Next In The MCU?

Currently, only half of the original Avengers are still active in the MCU. Iron Man and Black Widow died in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, sacrificing themselves so that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes could defeat Thanos and save the universe. Avengers: Endgame‘s ending also saw Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers go back in time to stay with his love, Peggy Carter, returning to the present-day MCU as an old man to pass the Captain America mantle on to Sam Wilson.

The other half of the Avengers — Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye — remains in the MCU, although every hero has seen a replacement for them — The Mighty Thor, She-Hulk, Kate Bishop — debut in the MCU in recent years. A new iteration of the Avengers will soon rise in the MCU, with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes having to band together to save the multiverse in the two upcoming Avengers movies — The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars — that have set a release date for 2025 and 2026.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is the first of the two, with the film likely set to have the new Avengers team fight against the Council of Kangs, a multiverse team made up of variants of Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror. The Council of Kangs was set up in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s first post-credits scene, which makes Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man a prime candidate to not only be part of the new Avengers but also lead the team in the battle to save the multiverse.
