Having a child can be part of a well-thought-out, thoroughly developed plan, but it can also be a surprise.

The unexpected situation in itself would not be cause for concern, since the arrival of a life is always a miracle. However, the story can be spiced up with additional surprises, which can really test the life of a married couple or a family.

Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, Jennifer and Ryan Hogan met at a college ski camp, and it didn’t take long for them to realize they were meant to be together. They got married and started a beautiful family: they had twin daughters, and 3 years later they welcomed another little girl into the family. They thought their family was complete like this and lived their lives with peace in their hearts.

Jennifer was in her 40s when it was discovered she was pregnant again. The twins were 14 and their youngest daughter was 11 at the time. The couple received the fresh news unexpectedly, but what they had to face at the 12-week screening exceeded all surprises: their baby has Dᴏᴡɴ sʏɴᴅʀᴏᴍᴇ.

“I am deeply ashamed of these thoughts, but I have always spoken openly about them because I feel it helps others who might find themselves in my shoes to see how capable they really are,” said the mother.

It proved that little Hudson was unnecessary for them to worry about the family. The brothers are inseparable: as soon as the girls go to school, Hudson immediately misses them, and vice versa.

“It is truly a privilege to love someone with Dᴏᴡɴ sʏɴᴅʀᴏᴍᴇ, but to be loved by someone with Dᴏᴡɴ sʏɴᴅʀᴏᴍᴇ is simply magical,” said the mother. She also said that her little son, who will be 5 years old this year, is doing great, although he has some health ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟɪᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴs that need ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ. But he is making progress and can slowly tick off all stages of development.
